If you’re visiting London for one of the first times, we’re here to introduce some tips for travelling to and around the city. From the best ways to get into London to how you should travel around to make the most of your time there, we’ve got you covered! So, let’s get into it and help you to really enjoy your time in London.
Get The Train Into The City
Firstly you should get the train into London if you’re coming from somewhere else in the UK! It’s quick, easy, you don’t have to worry about traffic, so we’d recommend using trains. On the most part they’re very reliable in the UK so you shouldn’t have any issues getting into London. Plus, you can enjoy a ready to drink cocktail on the train if you’d like! If you’re in the UK for quite a while and travelling to more remote areas, hiring a car for the duration might be better, however if you’re not there for long then a train would be a good option.
Walk Where You Can!
Our next piece of advice is to absolutely walk wherever you can! London is a beautiful city, with so much to see around every different area, so when you walk you can discover things you wouldn’t be able to on the tube or in a taxi. When you’re travelling right across the city, then you might need to consider a different form of transport, however for the most part, pack some comfy shoes and get walking! You might see a small coffee shop or independent shop that you wouldn’t spot otherwise. You could stop off at Hyde Park for a nice walk through the park when you’re moving through the city. Overall, walking is the best way to move around the city in our opinion!
Try The Open Top Bus
The open top buses in London are another fantastic, practical and fun way to move around the city. There are different routes all over London, with buses going every 5 to 10 minutes, so you can just hop off when you want to explore and then hop back on to another bus that is coming round on the route. You can see incredible parts of London, it’s great for getting all over the city, it’s affordable and you can buy multi-day passes so you can take your time.
Santander Cycles
Finally, if you’re looking for a more active option that isn’t as time consuming as walking, then getting on the Santander Cycles is a great idea! There are 12,000 Santander Cycles across the city across 800 docking stations, so you can literally go all over the city and stop off wherever you want. You pay as you go so can be really flexible. When the weather is good especially, this is beautiful, especially for making the most of the Royal Parks!
